Our Garden

Hey ya'll,

I have not posted anything in a while, so I thought I would post some pictures of our first garden as a married couple. We are very proud of it, it did very well. The picture above is of our squash and zucchini. We had way to many, I put some up, gave some away, made 8 loaves of zucchini bread, and still had some left over.

This picture is of one of our bell pepper plants, I thought it was such a beautiful plant.

This is a picture of our okra plant, I think the blooms are very pretty.

These are some of our tomato plants, we also had some heirloom plants.

This is a picture of our pole beans, we also have butter beans. We were blessed enough to get 2 bushels of beans and then some, and we had some for dinner, and gave some away.

This is a picture of our corn, we had white, yellow, and candy corn.

This is one of our sugar baby watermelons. I had never had one, they are not as sweet as regular watermelon, and they are white and pink inside instead of red.

This is a view of the whole garden.

And this is my husband of 1 yr. picking a tomato.

And this was our first watermelon, but it got rotten on the end, and we had to cut it off before it ripened. If anyone know why that happens, can you let me know, because we have other watermelons, and I would hate to see it happen to them also.
We also had lots and lots of cucumbers, and one acorn squash. We were truly blessed, and now we have planted collards, turnips, lettuce, beets, brussel sprouts, we still have carrots, and broccoli. So I hope the Lord will bless our winter garden also. We had a rain scare yesterday, we were afraid the rain was so hard that it would wash everything away, but God protected it. Thank you Lord!!
Well until we meet again, peace and love everyone!!

About Me

My photo
I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in a little camper, with my husband and family. We are trying to become self sufficient and live off the land. I am sick of all the sad news on TV, the economy, and the evil world we live in, so we are trying to make things as simple as possible and get back to the basics. I think if everyone did that, and had faith in God the world might be a better place. Follow along, as we live life in our little tin can, and try to make it a home, while learning to homestead.
