Snow, plum crisp, and lots of updates.

Hey ya'll,

A lot has been happening here!! The 14 inches from December finally melted about a week ago, so the snow was on the ground for about a month, just to make room for about 14 more inches that is falling heavily as we speak. It started about 3 pm and hasn't stopped since, and we are told we will get lots more by morning. The weather people are saying we are going to have what you call around here, a white out (blizzard). Which makes since, seeing as how we had a thunderstorm last week. Yes, I said it right, a THUNDERstorm. The saying here in the mountains, is that when it thunders during the winter, you will have snow about 5-10 days later, and so far the saying is proven to be right. So I will take more pictures tomorrow, it shall be pretty!! It's the fluffy kind!!

Below, is the plum cinnamon crisp I made last week. I had 3 pounds of plums frozen from this past summer that I needed to use. It's basic pie crust with cinnamon and I added a little nutmeg to it, and if you have some nuts, like walnuts or pecans, you could crush those up also. And then I cut up the plums, and added sugar and cinnamon to them and baked it at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. It was really tart, so if it is add some more sugar.

These are the tin punches I made for my mama for Christmas, I will be making more to sell on my etsy site, if any of you have a request for one let me know and I will be happy to make it, I will be making wooden frames for these and for the ones I make to sell. I am selling them with the frame for $65.00 and without the frame for $50.00. I can make them any size you want, 8x10 or 3x5.
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful, blessed weekend!!

About Me

My photo
I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in a little camper, with my husband and family. We are trying to become self sufficient and live off the land. I am sick of all the sad news on TV, the economy, and the evil world we live in, so we are trying to make things as simple as possible and get back to the basics. I think if everyone did that, and had faith in God the world might be a better place. Follow along, as we live life in our little tin can, and try to make it a home, while learning to homestead.
