Magical Christmas

Hey ya'll,

Well late Merry Christmas! Its been crazy around here. Christmas day, I went out to the chicken coop about 7 am to give my girls some warm water, because it was frozen as usual. I let them out, and as you can see above on my reds beak they apparently like to eat snow. As I was talking to them, I felt something on my face and looked up, and it was starting to snow, and standing there as the light of the day was starting to show, and the flakes were starting fall, and my chickens were pecking and talking to me, I felt the spirit of Christmas, I felt very calm and serene. And then it started pouring and I lost that calm feeling because we still had to go get my step son for the weekend!! It poured for three days and we ended up with what we have now which is 12 in. or more. Now, last yr we had 12 in. about this time and it didn't melt until April!! it just kept adding on!! And thats not a problem, but we live in what is supposed to be a mild winter climate in WNC and they said we would not have another winter like that, but here we go again!! Dont get me wrong, I love snow, but I dont love cabin fever! And i dont love the 50 mph winds that come with it! But it is very calming when the wind isnt blowing, to walk in the snow at night, when its quiet, and all you can hear is the crunching of the snow under your boots. And during the day when the sun shines and hits the snow and it looks like glitter on everything, very pretty!
I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas! My hubby made me a dulcimer, I will post a picture later! Goodnight all!!

Santa Clause

I have always believed that Santa  Clause is real, I may be an adult, and I know where the presents come from, but I still believe that the spirit of Santa Clause is alive and real, and one of my favorite Christmas stories is "yes Virginia there is a Santa Clause".

"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?

"VIRGINIA O'HANLON.
"115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.
You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

  Merry Christmas ya'll!

I am starting a prayer chain for hubby today!!

Hey y'all,

Well it has been a crazy week! I am covered head to toe in chicken pox!!! I am so miserable!! And I am also isolated in my house, docs orders, until every single spot has dried up! And the worst part, my husbands surgery is today and I can not be there! :o( I am so sad! So, I am starting a prayer chain for him, I am getting everyone to start praying at 12:00 today, thats when he goes in. So if any of you out there pray and have a few minutes could you send a prayer up for my husband please? His name is Daniel. Thanks!
 God Bless!

About Me

My photo
I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in a little camper, with my husband and family. We are trying to become self sufficient and live off the land. I am sick of all the sad news on TV, the economy, and the evil world we live in, so we are trying to make things as simple as possible and get back to the basics. I think if everyone did that, and had faith in God the world might be a better place. Follow along, as we live life in our little tin can, and try to make it a home, while learning to homestead.
