It's been wayyy to long!

Hey y'all!

It's been so long since I last posted, I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't have any followers left! So sorry for my long hiatus, not that I had that many readers anyway! So, it's been one thing after another here, I got a full time job at our hospital, and quit after the second day, I know, I know, jobs are hard to come by, but I had done that kind of thing before and it had been about 5 years since I worked in a office. When I quit my job in the lab office, I started my farm, got my chickens, had my big garden, and started trying to live off the grid. Well, after my first day in the new job, I panicked! I realized I couldn't sit in  that window less, stuffy, office and stare at a computer all day, I went crazy after day two, couldn't take a week of it , or even  years!!

So I am back to cleaning cabins up the mountain from where we live, and I have very happy, I get to be alone, look at the woods, the bears, its great! Best choice I ever made!

So, this years garden was awful! Nothing, and I mean nothing grew!!! I was so upset, I put so much money, time, energy, and love into it, and it was the biggest, best layed out garden yet, and not a single thing grew! I blame it on the rain. It rained so much after planting, everything molded, there was no sun, and because of the nasty weather, I couldn't keep up with the hoeing and the weeds. So, our shelves and our freezer is full of farmers market goodies, and I am thankful for that too, looks like we are in for another nasty winter! Its already snowing here in my part of the world!!

On another note, we now have black bears in our woods. They have no where else to go, the poor souls. So they eat our garbage, and sleep in our woods, which is fine by me, I like knowing they are safe and sound, and not being hunted. Speaking of animals, we also have kittens in our shed, and they entered through the hole I have been after hubby to fix for a long time now! But they sure are cute! There was 5, and now sadly there are only two, but they are very healthy and very naughty! And I now understand the saying " curiosity got the cat" since we have  had to rescue them from two potentially  harmful situations. But they keep me on my toes! Well, I hope everyone out in blogger world is safe, and happy, and I hope to be back at least once a week now, God Bless!

About Me

My photo
I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in a little camper, with my husband and family. We are trying to become self sufficient and live off the land. I am sick of all the sad news on TV, the economy, and the evil world we live in, so we are trying to make things as simple as possible and get back to the basics. I think if everyone did that, and had faith in God the world might be a better place. Follow along, as we live life in our little tin can, and try to make it a home, while learning to homestead.
